REGION RIGHT OF WAY OFFICE FUNCTIONS
There are five region offices, part of the Regional Technical Centers, which are responsible and accountable for all non-central project delivery. The Right of Way units are responsible for the acquisition of right of way in coordination with the construction program in each region.
Liaison, appraisal, negotiation, and relocation are carried out in the five regions under the direction of the Region Right of Way Managers. Property Management functions are carried out in selected offices.
Within each region office are Senior Right of Way Agents who serve as Right of Way Project Managers. They represent the Section on project development and oversee, coordinate and manage the right of way process on assigned projects.
The Right of Way Agents perform tasks in any of the following areas:
-
Prepare appraisals that establish fair market value of properties needed for right of way, maintenance and/or park facilities.
-
Negotiate for the purchase and acquisition of right of way and are involved in the relocation of persons who require relocation from properties that have been acquired.
-
Perform other duties associated with property management which include renting, leasing or sale of surplus properties, demolition and site clean-up, auctions, salvage and salvage appraisal.
