Project Delivery System

Article Content Overview
Welcome to the PDS website - your source for PDS updates, scheduled activities, and contact information. The Project Delivery System (PDS) Project, in concept, has been around for many years. As the Business Line has experienced substantial change and growth in all areas of project delivery, reporting and data management needs have continued to increase. In early 2006, OPD formally initiated the PDS Systems Improvement Project and work has begun on developing a detailed project plan. The PDS project is comprised of at least two phases, the first of which will involve business process identification and definition. The second phase will be automation of the new and improved business processes, coupled with replacing the Project Control System, or PCS as it's commonly known, and the Project Delivery Work Planning System (PDWP). Because there are many business processes associated with managing highway improvement project information, the PDS project will involve significant business process validation and needs identification to ensure the resulting PDS solution is the right one for the Highway Division. The PDS project will also tie in with the Highway Management Information System / Program which is focused around building strategic reporting capabilities for ODOT. Because of the huge volume of operational and strategic reporting that utilizes PCS and PDWP as primary data sources, there will be many requirements resulting from the PDS Discovery Sessions. Many of these reporting requirements may be better served by a corporate Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solution (aka: HMIS).

| Important Update |
|
With the amount of DAS quality assurance oversight and review that will be involved in the ERP and R/W Phase II projects, and the limited number of IT resources within ODOT’s Transportation Application Development office (TAD), the Deputy Director of Highways, Doug Tindall, has decided to defer several IT projects. After evaluating the current list of approved projects, an assessment was made as to which are more critical to the Highway Division today, and which could be delayed. The decision was made to postpone the PDS project at this time. PDS Closure Memo (ODOT access only)
