ODOT TRAFFIC OPERATIONS LEADERSHIP TEAM
CHARTER
 
PURPOSE
  • Provide guidance on Department policies and procedures related to traffic operations and traffic engineering. Topics include, but are not limited to: interpretation and enforcement of the MUTCD and Oregon supplements to the MUTCD; issues pertaining to the State Traffic Engineer’s delegated authority; standards pertaining to signs, signals, striping and other traffic control devices; procedures for traffic investigations; and standard practices and manuals published by the Traffic Engineering and Operations Section (TEOS).
  • Support improved communication and collaboration between the region traffic offices and tech centers, TEOS, and other offices within ODOT with responsibilities in traffic operations and engineering.
  • Provide an atmosphere for professional learning and collaborative problem solving.
 
MEMBERSHIP
 
Chair: State Traffic Engineer.
Representatives: Region traffic managers and staff, TEOS managers and staff.
Guests: Frequent attendees include FHWA staff, Transportation Safety Division staff, TDD traffic records staff, and district maintenance representatives.
 
 
MEETINGS
 
Schedule: First Thursday of the month, five times a year or more frequently when necessary.
Location: Usually in Salem, but sometimes held at region offices around the state as a learning experience and to provide the opportunity for region traffic staff to attend.
 
 
SUBCOMMITTEES
 
Occasionally subcommittees are formed to look into specific areas of concern. No subcommittees are currently identified. 
 
 
AUTHORITY
 
This group will generally make decisions on the basis of the authority of the State Traffic Engineer. Recommendations that require further approval are forwarded to the appropriate group.
