The Oregon Traffic Control Devices Committee is an advisory group to the state, cities, and counties in Oregon regarding traffic management issues. The committee meets to discuss programs, policy and procedures, and various transportation activities related as they affect local and state governments. Members are listed in this linked document.
The OTCDC meets every other month to exchange thoughts, ideas, and practices that will guide the direction for the future regarding transportation related activities as they affect the motoring public. The need for the committee was based upon the following facts:
1) Traffic control devices applicable to state highways do not necessarily apply to city and county traffic problems.
2) The committee would provide a communication link between local government and the state on technical traffic issues.
3) Uniformity in overall traffic control device application by local government within the State of Oregon was needed. By delegated authority, the OTCDC is the group that advises the State Traffic Engineer in approving changes to traffic control device standards, manuals and guidelines for the state highway system and when approving experimental projects related to traffic matters.
