Scoping

The objectives of scoping are to determine potential impacts to scope, schedule, and budget of a project.  The presence of natural resources in a project area can impact all of these aspects of project development and planning.  Early detection, careful planning, and design considerations are required in order to avoid impacts wetlands and other waters of the State/U.S. to the maximum extent practicable.

Procedural and technical guidance is provided to determine appropriate levels of documentation needed under different circumstances.  Templates are also available to document findings.

**DRAFT documents under review and development include the following:

Scoping Procedures: procedural and technical guidance regarding field data collection, procedures, and appropriate documentation
Findings of No Waters of the State/US: template for file memo when no Corp/DSL jurisdictional features occur within a project area and findings are very straightforward
Wetlands/Waters Scoping Report Template: format for reporting on presence or absence of jurisdictional (although absence is covered in scoping memo above, this format is more detailed and is used to address areas that are not straightforward)
DSL and/or Corps Permits Scoping: (this document is not available)
