U.S. 97 at South Century Drive Open House
Public Invited to Review Environmental Assessment
The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) invites the public to an Open House to examine the project plans and Environmental Assessment for the proposed project at U.S. 97 at South Century Drive. The meeting is 4:30 – 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept.30 in the Pineland Room at Sunriver Resort’s Main Lodge located at #1 Center Drive in Sunriver. ODOT staff will be available during the Open House to discuss issues and answer questions related to the EA.
The EA was prepared by ODOT and the Federal Highway Administration to assess the potential environmental impact of the proposed project. The U.S. 97 at South Century Drive project is located between milepost 151.05 and milepost 155.5 on U.S. 97 between Bend and La Pine near Sunriver.
The proposed project includes a full diamond interchange at the intersection of U.S. 97 and South Century Drive. Construction is anticipated to begin in the fall of 2005. Potential impacts resulting from the proposed project include conversion of Ponderosa Pine/Lodgepole Pine forest to roadway right-of-way, aesthetic impacts, and temporary traffic impacts during construction.
Written comments will be accepted at the Open House and may be submitted through Oct. 20, 2004 to: Susan Haupt, Environmental Project Manager, c/o ODOT Environmental Services, 63034 O.B. Riley Road, Bend, OR 97701. All interested parties are encouraged to review the EA and comment on the proposed action.
