Motor Carrier Advisory

Certain Regulations Suspended for Carriers Providing Essential Wildfire Support

Under authority granted in Oregon Revised Statute 823.012, ODOT Director Matthew Garrett suspended certain motor carrier laws related to vehicles providing essential equipment, supplies and services to combat Oregon wildfires until October 2, 2017.
View the full text of Director Garrett's declaration, including the list of suspended regulations.
Commercial motor carriers operating over-dimensional loads should follow Oregon's emergency permitting procedures.
Nothing contained in the declaration shall be construed as an exemption from the controlled substances and alcohol use and testing requirements (49 CFR Part 382), nor the commercial driver's license requirements (49 CFR Part 383).  Additionally, motor carriers or drivers currently subject to an out-of-service order or who have an unsatisfactory safety rating are not eligible for the exemption until the order expires or they have met the conditions of its rescission.
