The Oregon Department of Transportation’s Public Transit Division is taking advantage of a pilot change in FTA (Federal Transit Administration) match rules to fund intercity bus service between Klamath Falls, OR and Smith River, CA via White City, Medford, Gold Hill, Grants Pass, Cave Junction, and Crescent City, CA. The service will allow one day round trips from Smith River, CA or Klamath Falls, OR, to Medford, OR. The service will also allow one day one way trips between Klamath Falls, OR and Smith River, CA.
Greyhound Lines, Inc. will act as a match partner in this project. A portion of Greyhound service along the I-5 corridor will serve as match for the project.
Existing (The Shuttle) service between Klamath Falls and Medford will cease operation, when the new service starts.
An RFP will be issued by ODOT in late Summer or early Fall of 2008 to select a vendor to provide the new service. The new service is expected to start operation in late 2008 or early 2009.
The new service will be the only regularly scheduled general public transit service connecting the I-5 corridor to the 101 corridor, along the 400+ miles between Eugene, OR and Williams, CA.
