SALEM – The Oregon Department of Transportation is hosting an Open House at the newly renovated Transportation Building on the Capitol Mall in Salem on Sat., Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. -  noon. Several employees will serve as tour guides, and the stops include the basement, where storm water is stored in tanks for re-use in restrooms, and the 4th floor office area, which showcases the maximum use of space and daylight.

The $69.4 million project is finishing up under budget and earlier than scheduled. No General Fund monies were used for the project, which supported more than 500 jobs over the past two years and put several small, minority-owned and women-owned businesses to work, in addition to the general contractor, Hoffman Construction and the design firm, SERA Architects, both located in Portland.

To learn more about the building’s safety and health improvements, energy efficient upgrades and more, stop by the Open House or visit the website, www.oregon.gov/ODOT and click on ‘Transportation Building Renovation.’
