|
The purpose of the Rail Employee Safety Program is:
To promote a safe work environment for railroad employees performing their track side duties through the enforcement of Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR’s), Chapter 741, Divisions 300 through 335. This is accomplished by ODOT’s, Rail Safety Division, Employee Safety Compliance Specialists (ESCS) performing onsite inspections of all railroads and all rail served facilities within the state of Oregon.
Rail served facilities are defined as:
Any entity, other than a railroad, that does business with the railroads, by directly shipping or receiving rail cars.
OAR 741-300 through 741-335 pertains to:
Required minimum clearance and walkway standards along railroad tracks, required signage at locations where variances have been granted from the clearance and walkway standards, and water quality standards and first aid kits on locomotives and cabooses.
