Two Charging Stations Completed

In August 2009 the US Department of Energy announced that Oregon was selected as one of the five test markets for the largest deployment of electric vehicles and the associated charging infrastructure. ODOT's Support Services Branch (SSB) has been working on purchasing five of the Nissan Leaf vehicles to be stationed at various ODOT buildings.

Work is now complete on two electric vehicle charging stations and two Nissan Leaf electric vehicles have been delivered to ODOT. The vehicles and the charging stations are at ODOT's Building M on the East Salem Compound and at the District 4 Office in Corvallis.

A third charging station is currently being installed at the Region 1 Flanders Office Building in Portland, with a vehicle on the way.

Finally, plans for the final two charging stations and vehicles are underway and are scheduled to arrive sometime in 2011.
