ODOT Flying T

  • Welcome to TPAU (Transportation Planning Analysis Unit)
    3 Sisters
The Transportation Planning Analysis Unit (TPAU) of the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) analyzes the long-range effects of transportation decisions on travel behavior, transportation system performance, land use and the economy to help customers make informed decisions and to maximize resources.
  • Facility Analysis and Simulation Team (FAST)
    Oregon Fall
The Facility Analysis and Simulation Team (FAST) conducts, reviews, and provides technical support on a variety of studies including: Transportation System Plans (TSPs), corridor plans, refinement plans, management plans, project development, and environmental documents. Analysts work on ODOT project teams as a resource to compare alternatives traffic operations and aid in phasing. FAST also provides education and training in application of analysis procedures (Analysis Procedures Manual) and tools for ODOT staff and consultants.
  • Modeling Team
    Fall
The Modeling Team develops, implements and applies urban travel demand models for jurisdictions across the state of Oregon, working in close cooperation with MPOs and local jurisdictions. Travel demand models serve as an essential link between long range planning and transportation project development. Such planning activity includes Transportation System Plans, Refinement Plans, and air quality conformity. The Modeling Team also develops, implements and applies regional models, such as the Deschutes County Travel Demand model and the Oregon Statewide Integrated Model (SWIM.) Integrated models, such as SWIM, are regional policy analysis tools that integrate the state's land use, transportation system and economy into one dynamic and interactive environment.
  • Systems Analysis Team
    Map
The System Analysis Team analyzes the performance of transportation systems. The team evaluates transportation performance measures and develops system-level evaluation methods. Systems level analysis addresses multiple transportation modes and transportation facilities in urban areas and regions of the state. Examples of systems analysis include the modeling of greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector using the GreenSTEP model and the analysis of roadway performance for an urban area using a combination of travel demand models and 'mesoscopic' traffic models.
