Program Introduction
 
 
The Youth Program consists of the 0-14 age group and the youth drivers group, ages 15-20. Each portion of the program has its own goals, performance measures and strategies toward reaching those goals and measures. A NHTSA Assessment of the Youth Program, conducted in September of 2002, provided a valuable written critique of the program's strengths and accomplishments and made recommendations for improvements.  One of the highest priority recommendations was to develop a comprehensive, coordinated plan for youth traffic safety.  The 2007 Oregon Transportation Safety Action Plan below, is a direct result of that key recommendation.

For help with child safety seat selection and installation, contact the Child Safety Seat Resource Center at ACTS Oregon, during regular office hours at (503) 643-5620 ( Portland Area) or (877) 793-2608. Information on Oregon Laws, free local car seat check up events, child seat training, and volunteer opportunities, can be found on their website at ACTS Oregon. ACTS Oregon is a Non-Profit organization contracted annually by ODOT to provide statewide information, referral and training related to child passenger safety in Oregon.
