The hospital's affiliation with professional schools includes students and interns at the hospital from schools of Psychiatry, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, and Clinical Pastoral Education.
Provided by Protestant and Catholic chaplains who meet with patients as requested and hold weekly religious services in chapels located in Breitenbush Hall (Bldg. 35) and Cascade Hall (Bldg. 48), as well as in other program areas where patient movement is restricted. Services are also conducted at Oregon State Hospital - Portland.
Located in Kirkbride Building, this is where patients' money is deposited and withdrawn as needed.
Rehabilitation services department
Includes therapeutic recreation, occupational therapy, music therapy, art therapy, physical therapy, dance therapy, outdoor adventure, patient library, canteen, barber, and beautician services, and various recreational facilities. Also included are a range of vocational services including prevocational groups, a patient pay program, the Salem Rehabilitation Facility sheltered workshop, and services from vocational rehabilitation counselors. All treatment services are individualized for each patient.
Patient Affairs office
Provides assistance to patients applying for Social Security or other benefits (Bldg. 35). The phone number is 503-945-2919 for Salem and 503-731-8670 for Portland.
Billings and Collections office

Gathers financial information from patients to determine their ability to pay for their cost of care.
