Evidence-Based Practices

Evidence-based treatment and prevention practices are those that research has proved effective. OHA is adopting proven practices in addictions and mental health services. The Oregon Legislature directed OHA and four other state agencies to spend increasing shares of public dollars on evidence-based services, culminating in 75 percent by the 2009-11 budget period. Approved practices, which have undergone independent review, can be found on this Web site.

NIATx - The Network for the Improvement of Addiction Treatment: Changing Systems; Changing Lives Initiative

The goal of the NIATx Initiative is to expand the number of addiction treatment providers in Oregon who will employ a simple process improving model that will make more efficient use of capacity, and improve access and retention.

 

OWITS: Web Infrastructure for Treatment Services

The Oregon Health Authority Addictions and Mental Health Division (OHA/AMH) is moving forward with implementation of a Behavior Electronic Health Record (BEHR) Solution which mental health and substance abuse providers can utilize at no cost. AMH is in the process of contracting with FEI.COM Inc to put in place the web-based solution, Web Infrastructure for Treatment and Services (WITS). Oregon is implementing this under the name Oregon WITS (OWITS).

  • Traumatic Brain Injury
    An Overview, focuses on background information for professionals who work with individuals with brain injury. The module takes about 15-20 minutes to complete, includes a test, and provides a certificate of completion with an 80% passing score. There is no charge for the training.
