GENERAL INFORMATION
This is a full-time, limited duration position located in Salem with the Services Outreach Section of the Community Resources Division of Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) State Agency. This is a classified position and is represented by a union. You will be subject to payment of fair share or union dues.
This position is included in OHCS's 2009-11 Budget Bill which has been passed by the legislature but which still must be signed by the Governor. If signed, this position will last for the biennium.
This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
In order for your application to be accepted, your PD100 (State of Oregon employment application) must clearly show that you have two years of general clerical experience, one year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents.
OR
Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology.
OR
Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.
NOTE: College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. If education is being used to qualify for this position, transcripts (official or unofficial) must be submitted.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to work with little supervision, use own judgment in making decisions on method to accomplish the assigned tasks, and ability to track deadlines is highly desired.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The person in this position answers, routes and records incoming telephone calls; produces professional, proficient, quality production word processing and spreadsheets. The person in this position drafts and prepares a variety of correspondence, reports, memos and responds to questions, screens calls and refers those calls as needed. This position assists in developing procedures, systems and forms for the division, and schedules meetings and hearings on behalf of the energy program coordinators. The person in this position works under the general supervision of the Manager and Energy Unit program coordinators.

You must answer all the test questions in no more than one page per question and should be typewritten. Include any work experience (paid or unpaid) and training you have, which is related to each question. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Number your answers to correspond with the question. Be sure that the jobs where you gained the experience you describe in your answers are listed in the "Work History" section of your application form. Your test grade will be based on your answers.
1. Describe the types of computer software you have used and how you have used them (i.e., types of documents created or the reason or types of responsibilities for which the software was used). Please rate your proficiency with the computer using a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest score possible. Also include your approximate typing speed.
2. The person in this position works on a variety of support level projects with varying deadlines (sometimes short deadlines) for Energy Unit staff and Manager. This creates the need to prioritize the workload and be able to shift priorities in response to critical needs. Please explain your background experience in establishing priorities for your work assignments. Please include an explanation of the number and type of staff you supported, and how you handle changing priorities mid-stream to meet differing critical deadlines.
3. This positions has regular contact with Energy Unit staff in person and with the general public by telephone; collects needed information to compile regular and special reports; responding to inquiries and complaints; and, scheduling appointments and arranging meetings and travel. Explain your experience in these activities.
