Board Member Biography
Dr. Russ Cagle
Dr. Russ Cagle
Dr. Russ Cagle is Professor Emeritus of the Department of Exercise Science at Willamette University in Salem, where he served as department chair from 1994-2008 and as a professor since 1985.  Dr. Cagle also served as an athletic trainer in Willamette's Department of Athletics from 1985-2005.
Certified as an athletic trainer since 1972, Dr. Cagle was Assistant Professor and Athletic Curriculum Director at the University of Montana from 1982-85, Head Football Athletic Trainer and Clinical Director for Graduate Curriculum at the University of Oregon from 1977-81, and Associate Athletic Trainer at San Diego State from 1970-77. 
Among numerous professional development activities and accomplishments, Dr. Cagle was elected twice by his peers to the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC) and served as BOC president from 1998-2002.  He was inducted into the inaugural Oregon Athletic Trainers Society Hall of Fame in 2007.
"I'm interested in the profession's standards of practice, licensing issues and healthcare regulation in general," says Dr. Cagle.  "Serving on the Board of Athletic Trainers allows me to draw on my experience and expertise to better the profession and ensure Oregon's athletic trainers are qualified."
