Susan Moray
Susan Moray
Ms. Susan Moray began attending births in 1978 as a labor doula.  She graduated from and is on the faculty at Birthingway College of Midwifery in Portland and was a childbirth educator for 20 years.
In addition to being the press officer for Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA) for the past eight years, Ms. Moray is the continuing education coordinator for the Oregon Midwifery Council, the statewide professional organization.

She believes that the MANA's Midwives Model of CareTM is the gold standard for midwifery care and that the women and families of Oregon deserve qualified and professional attendants.

“I view pregnancy and birth as a a fundamentally healthy process - not an institutional medical event," says Ms. Moray. "I believe that when a woman's sense of personal strength and self-confidence are nurtured, she realizes birth as an empowering experience.  When birth is integrated into life as a family event, the family is strengthened as well.”
