The Nursing Home Administrators Board (NHAB) consists of nine members appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Oregon Senate:
  • Three nursing home administrator members
  • Three public members
  • One physician member
  • One pharmacist member
  • One registered nurse member
Terms of office are three years with a maximum of two consecutive terms or until a successor is appointed.

Board Member Responsibilities
Volunteer citizens who serve on the multiple health and related boards overseen by the Oregon Health Licensing Agency (OHLA) provide profession-specific expertise and a public/consumer perspective.

OHLA board and council members focus on the licensing and regulatory issues of the board or council to which they are appointed.  They are not responsible for addressing issues of other OHLA boards and councils nor are they responsible for the operation of the OHLA central regulatory agency.

OHLA board and council members focus on training and educational standards, competency examinations, professional practice standards and codes of conduct, and advise the agency on disciplinary matters.

Members are called upon to serve on board/council committees to address profession-specific issues.  Often, committee work requires an additional time commitment beyond regularly scheduled board meetings.

Collaboration between OHLA central agency staff and volunteer citizen board and council members is the key to successful regulation -- regulation whose primary focus is to protect the health and safety of Oregonians and the rights of Oregon consumers.

Oregon Health Licensing Agency
OHLA professions
The Oregon Health Licensing Agency (OHLA) is a state consumer and public protection agency overseeing regulation of multiple health and related professions.  The 70th Oregon Legislative Assembly established OHLA in 1999.

Unique in structure compared to other state professional licensing and regulatory bodies, OHLA incorporates a central agency model and director rather than a single board of directors from one profession.
