OHLA Reaches Out to Diverse Agency Stakeholders
OHLA professions montage
The Oregon Health Licensing Agency (OHLA) reaches out to a diverse group of stakeholders to foster an inclusive regulatory dialogue.

On April 6, OHLA was at the State Capitol Building with other state agencies and organizations to promote Public Health Week.  OHLA registers the state's environmental health specialists.

On April 10-11, OHLA participated in what organizers billed as the "largest tattoo show in Oregon's history," Oregon Ink, which drew hundreds of tattoo artistsbody piercing technicians and consumers to the Lane County Convention Center.

OHLA's Regulatory Operations staff conducted on-site inspections to ensure that practitioners followed Oregon health and safety requirements.  OHLA provided information to practitioners and the public, offering materials from the agency's public education campaign, Piercing Thoughts.

On April 26, OHLA provided approximately 30 electrologists with a regulatory update at the Oregon Association of Licensed Electrologists (OALE) seminar in Portland.

And tomorrow, May 2, OHLA will be part of a video presentation marking 30 years of denture technology practice in Oregon at the Oregon State Denturist Association (OSDA) Spring Conference and 30th Anniversary Celebration in Florence.

Approximately a month after the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) and Department of Justice (DOJ) initiated a workplace assessment of the Oregon Health Licensing Agency in February, former OHLA Director Susan K. Wilson was dismissed in March.

“She served at the pleasure of DAS, and DAS made a decision to make a change,” said DOJ spokesman Tony Green.  “These are not cases where there is any need for cause.  She was told her services were no longer required.”

Two agency managers continue on paid administrative leave.  Three DAS managers are serving on an interim basis until the workplace assessment is completed
