If you study these sites, you will find some differences in reported numbers. This is because each performance chart may use different time periods, different data sets, different specifications, and different risk adjustment methods. Finally, it bears repeating that these indicators must be used cautiously, because the administrative data on which the indicators are based are not collected for research purposes or for measuring quality of care, but for billing purposes. Nevertheless, this information can be used to launch explorations into reasons for potential quality problems, and that is exactly what Sacred Heart Medical Center does and takes seriously.
