EMT ADVISORY COMMITTEE
COMMITTEE OPENING
March 2012

CERTIFIED EMT MEMBER

The Oregon Medical Board (Board) and its EMT Advisory Committee (Committee) are seeking letters of interest and curricula vitae (CV) from certified emergency medical technicians interested in serving on the Committee.

The EMT applicant must have been an Oregon resident and certified as an emergency medical technician for at least two years.

The Committee is composed of two physician members, three EMT members, and one member of the Board. The term of office is three years, and members may serve no more than two terms. The Committee meets four times a year with additional meetings or conference calls if necessary.

The Committee’s purpose and major objective is to help ensure the availability of safe, professional medical services to the people of Oregon. The Committee makes recommendations to the Board on matters of First Responder and EMT scope of practice, requirements and duties of supervising physicians, and physician nominations for the State EMS Committee. The Board then contemplates final action based upon those recommendations.

Interested applicants may submit a CV and a letter of interest addressing the following areas:
  • Educational/training/practice experience
  • Any committee or team experience
  • Why you are interested in serving as a member on the EMT Advisory Committee

Application materials must be submitted to the Board at 1500 S.W. First Ave., Suite 620, Portland, OR 97201 or Sarah.Meadows@state.or.us.

The Committee will interview interested applicants during its meeting in May and forward recommendations for a new member to the Board. The Board will appoint the new member to the Committee at its regular meeting.
