It is the Oregon Military Department’s goal to provide a safe and healthy worksite for all employees while being efficient with costs. In reviewing our past claim history, we saw a large increase in workers compensation claims and costs. These costs have a major effect on our operating budget and rates we pay in Government Service charges for insurance coverage. Therefore, the Executive Safety Committee was formed.
This committee meets quarterly with the agency Safety Manager as to safety related issues
and policy direction within the agency and is responsible to review safety policy, related issues, safety trends and make recommendations as it relates to agency performance.
The Executive Committee members are the Director of State Personnel, Director of AGC (Finance), Director of Installations, Director of the Youth Challenge Program (YCP) and The Director of Staff, Air.
The State - JFHQ Safety Committee is responsible for the state side of the Oregon Military Department and covers the Salem location along with Regions 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. For a list of members, please see the bottom of this webpage.
The Federal Safety Committee is a committee that is comprised with both State and Federal employees. This committee functions as the main Safety Committee for the Oregon National Guard and meets quarterly.
