Hazards at the Umatilla Army Depot
11.6% of the nation's supply of chemical warfare agents is stored in special bunkers at the Umatilla Army Depot. The Army also stores chemical weapons at seven other locations in the United States. There are munitions such as M55 rockets, mines, bombs, and one-ton containers of agents. The chances of a chemical accident at the Umatilla Army Depot are very remote, but the consequences could be very serious. If you live within 25 miles of the Depot, you may need to take action if a chemical accident takes place.
