Emergency Alert System
Oregon supports the Emergency Alert System by providing support to the State Emergency Communications Committee which is responsible for developing EAS plans statewide.
  • The Emergency Alert System replaces the old Emergency Broadcast System (EBS).
  • Under EBS all alert messages were originated at the State level.
  • With EAS, messages are originated by local authorities, though the State or Federal Government can still access the system if the need arises.
