Oregon National Guard assets to help fight Oregon fires
 
Salem-Governor John Kitzhaber issued a verbal declaration of emergency Sunday morning to facilitate the use of National Guard resources in the wildland fire suppression effort. The National Guard has sent five helicopters to help fight fires.

Medford lightning fires: Two CH-47 Chinook helicopters flew from Pendleton to Medford to assist in fire suppression.
 
Winter Fire, Paisley: Two helicopters were requested. One CH-47 Chinook helicopter and support package dispatched. One CH-47 being repaired for duty.
 
Roseburg lightning fires: Oregon's UH-60 Firehawk dispatched from Salem to assist in containment.
