Oregon Army National Guard assists in search
 
The Oregon Army National Guard launched an OH-58 Kiowa helicopter shortly after 9 a.m. Christmas morning from the Army Aviation Support Facility in Salem to assist in the search for a woman missing since approximately 4 a.m. Dec. 24.
 
The Douglas County Sherriff's office is leading the search.
 
Typically used in counter drug operations in Oregon and as a command and control or observation airframe in combat operations, the OH-58 Kiowa is configured with state of the art equipment that give searchers unique capabilities.
 
The Oregon Army National Guard has assisted with dozens of search and rescue operations throughout 2005.
