OEM Director, Ken Murphy, selected as President of the National Emergency Management Association
Ken Murphy of Salem, Ore, Director of Oregon Emergency Management, takes over as President of the National Emergency Management Association(NEMA) effective Monday, October 1, 2007. The mission of NEMA is to provide national leadership and expertise in comprehensive emergency management. The agency also serves as a vital emergency management information and assistance resource. NEMA advances continuous improvement in emergency management through strategic partnerships, innovative programs, and collaborative policy positions.
Recently passed legislation has moved Oregon Emergency Management under the jurisdiction of the Oregon Military Department.
