Mobilization Ceremony set for 2-641 Aviation, Oregon Army National Guard
 
The official Mobilization Ceremony for 2-641 Aviation Regiment, Oregon Army National Guard will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at the Army Aviation Support Facility #l at Hangar #1, 1921 Turner Road SE, Salem, Ore.

Approximately 35 men and women from this unit will deploy under the command of Lt. Col. Todd Farmer and Sgt. Major Karen Jacobs-Harryman.

Governor Ted Kulongoski, Maj. Gen. Raymond Rees, The Adjutant General and 82 Brigade Commander, Brig. Gen. Charles Yriarte will comprise the official party for the ceremony.

Family, friends, media and supporters are invited to attend to wish them well on this deployment.

The unit will then travel to Ft. Benning, Georgia for premobilization training and certification prior to movement to Balad, Iraq.

The mission of the 2-641 Aviation is to conduct flight missions required for battle command of theater operations and transportation of supplies equipment and personnel with the Iraq Area of Responsibility. For sustainment of operations, 2-641 Aviation Regiment will perform those missions which lie between the strategic and intra-theater missions performed by the United States Air Force (USAF) and the tactical maneuver and movement performed by Army rotary wing and/or unmanned Aircraft System (UAS), or ground assets.
