Clackamas County added to Governor's State of Emergency declaration

SALEM, Ore. – Officials announced today that Governor Kulongoski has declared a state of emergency in Clackamas County. The declaration came at approximately 3:30 p.m. in response to the request from the Clackamas County Commission.

Heavy snow and freezing rain since December 13, 2008 has been causing extremely difficult driving conditions throughout the county and the state. Clackamas County, having exhausted most of their resources has turned to the state for assistance.

"Road conditions have caused numerous obstacles for individuals to obtain life saving medications and services," said Governor Kulongoski. "The requests for assistance include ongoing ODOT support activities as well as additional extraordinary support for transport of personnel and medical supplies."

Clackamas County is being added to Columbia and Multnomah Counties, who received state of emergency declarations on Monday afternoon.
