|National Guard celebrates 364th birthday
Salem, Ore.-On Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, the National Guard of the United States will celebrate its 364th birthday of volunteer service to America.
The Oregon National Guard will host a celebration in the Senate Chambers of the Oregon State Capitol building in Salem at 2:30 p.m. A reception will immediately follow in the Galleria.
Jon Mangis, director of the Department of Veterans Affairs, will be a guest speaker. Oregon state Supreme Court Justice Wallace Carson and Salem Mayor Mike Swaim will be among the honored guests. Members of the media and the public are invited to attend to help recognize the many years of volunteer service to the state and nation.
