FIRE SITUATION UPDATE: National Guard to assist at Monument Fires
 
Portland, Ore.- Army Guard soldiers will depart early Friday morning to assist in firefighting efforts in the Monument Complex Fire, three miles north of Monument, Ore. Crews and support packages from the 1249th Engineer Battalion, headquartered in Salem, and the 1st Battalion, 82nd Cavalry headquartered in Bend will assist in the Monument Fire. 

The 1249th Engineer Battalion will be departing from the Monmouth training facility at 8:00 am to head to the Monument Complex Incident Command at the Monument High School.
 
The 82nd Cavalry will be departing from the Bend Armory and arriving at the Monument Complex Incident Command no later than 3:00 p.m
