|Maj. General Burgin to present Distinguished Flying Cross
McMinnville, Ore - Maj. Gen. Alexander Burgin, The Adjutant General of the Oregon National Guard will present the Distinguished Flying Cross for service in Vietnam to James H. Heimbuecher of Hillsboro at a brief ceremony to be held on Saturday, May 18, 2002 at 9 p.m. at Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville. Heimbuecher was a C47 Airborne Morse Systems Operator stationed at Phu Cat in the Republic of Vietnam in 1970. His citation stated he flew a long mission over hostile terrain in adverse weather conditions earning him the Distinguished Flying Cross. The citation was never awarded during his term of service, so Burgin will present the award during the Military Ball.
