Col. (P) Douglas A. Pritt of Salem to take Command of 41st Separate Infantry Brigade
 
Salem, Ore. - In a Change of Command Ceremony to be held at the Salem Armory Auditorium, 2320 17th St. NE, Salem, Ore. at 10:30 a.m. Col. (Promotable) Douglas A. Pritt will accept the guidon from Brig. Gen. Raymond C. Byrne Jr. Pritt will then assume command of the 41st Separate Infantry Brigade (Enhanced) of the Oregon Army National Guard.
 
The 41st Separate Infantry Brigade consists of the Brigade Headquarters in Portland, the 1st Battalion, 162nd Infantry headquartered in Forest Grove (currently deployed to Kuwait, Iraq and Saudi Arabia); the 2nd Battalion, 162 Infantry, headquartered in Cottage Grove (mobilized on Oct. 12, 2003 and preparing to report to their Mobilization Station at Ft. Hood, Texas); the 1st Battalion, 186th Infantry, headquartered in Ashland (recently returned from a mobilization in Egypt as part of the Multinational Forces and Observers mission in Sinai), the 2nd Battalion, 218th Field Artillery, headquartered in Portland, and the 41st Provisional Battalion, headquartered in Clackamas.
 
The unit has a long and valorous history deploying as part of the Spanish American War, World War I and in World War II (New Guinea and the Philippines), earning multiple campaign streamers. As one of only eleven Separate Enhanced Brigades available to the National Command Authority nationwide, the unit has a high level of operational readiness and deployability. Currently about sixty percent of the unit is either currently serving as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom or is preparing to deploy in support of that mission.
 
Pritt replaces Brig. Raymond. C. Byrne Jr., who has assumed the position of Joint Chief of Staff and Deputy Adjutant General (Army) , Joint Force Headquarters, Oregon in Salem, Ore.
Pritt and his wife, Susan, reside in Salem, Ore.
