Oregon National Guard unit receives mobilization order
Salem, Ore. - The Oregon Military Department announced today the receipt of mobilization orders in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, for the 82nd Rear Operations Center (ROC) based in Lake Oswego. Forty-nine soldiers from this unit have been activated for an initial duty period of 12 months. They will report to their mobilization station at Ft. Lewis, Washington on February 10, 2003. The mission of the 82 ROC is the responsibility for the planning, coordination and execution of security teams, land management, traffic control, damage control and enemy threat response for all units that are assigned to their area of operation. They provide intelligence and operational information for the units in the rear area of an operation. The command post works in coordination with a corps level headquarters.
Members of the media and families of these soldiers are invited to the mobilization ceremony on February 9, 2003 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Lake Oswego National Guard Armory located at 1915 Southshore Blvd. in Lake Oswego, Ore.
These men and women reside in many towns throughout the valley to include: Albany; Aloha; Beaverton; Boring; Corvallis; ; Dundee; Keizer; Lincoln City; Hillsboro; Lake Oswego; McMinnville; Mt. Angel; Milwaukie; Oak Grove; Portland; Tualatin; West Linn and Wilsonville. Several members of this unit also reside in Washington state.
