641st Medical Battalion (Evacuation) receives alert orders
Salem, Ore. – The Oregon Military Department received notification of the alert and impending mobilization of the 641st Medical Battalion (Evacuation) headquartered in Salem, Ore. Lt. Col. Greenwood is the commander of this battalion. This presidential callup in support of Operations Enduring Freedom / Iraqi Freedom places 59 additional citizen soldiers of the Oregon Army National Guard onto federal active duty. They have been ordered to report to their mobilization station at Fort Bragg, NC, by mid-April, 2003. Their final duty station is unknown at this time.
The unit will deploy a command and control (C2) cell from its Headquarters detachment. The C2 element is responsible to coordinate the operational and logistical support for up to seven ground and air ambulance companies.
