Oregon Army National Guard to rescue climber on Mt. Adams
Salem, Ore. – The Oregon Army National Guard launched a helicopter to conduct a rescue mission on Mt. Adams at 12:30 p.m. today.
A climber with a compound fracture to his leg is stranded at about 7,500 feet, and the Oregon Army National Guard will rescue the hiker. Depending on the severity of the injuries the aircrew will either bring the hiker to a location where ground crews can take over, or they will take the hiker directly to a hospital.
The Oregon Army National Guard has conducted or assisted dozens of rescues this year.
The citizen-soldiers of the Oregon National Guard are highly trained and skilled professionals, ready to assist in either natural or manmade disasters or crises.
