CORRECTION: Army Guard launches Blackhawk to aid in search for downed aircraft

Salem, Ore. – The search for the missing aircraft, a Piper Cherokee from Tillamook is still underway.

We are currently unable to maintain radio contact with the Army National Guard Blackhawk as it is conducting a low level search and as it drops into a valley radio contact is interrupted.

The mission is being performed by the MART Team or Military Air Rescue Team of the Oregon Army National Guard. Oregon is the only state with a full-time MART team to assist in search and rescue and medevac operations.
