National Guard to receive webcams from Digmarc Corporation
In response to an article in the Metro Section of the Salem Statesman Journal and follow up radio spots on KEX radio, Digimarc Corporation will present approximatley 1200 webcams to the Oregon National Guard. The transfer will be made at 1 p.m. today at the Digimarc warehouse located at 19801 SW 72nd in Tualatin, Ore.
These webcams will then be given to the families of the Army Guard soldiers who are deployed outside the continental United States, typically in Iraq or Afghanistan. A group of webcams will also be send to the forward locations. This will enable the families and soldiers to visit via internet and actually be able to see each other. This is currently being used by a few of the soldiers and their families and have stated it has made the separation much easier. The children benefit immensely from the visual contact as does the rest of the family. This helps to maintain the solidarity of the family unit.
Donations of webcams will be taken at the State Headquarters on an ongoing basis as the operation tempo of the Operation Iraqi Freedom II is ongoing.
