Army National Guard prepares to launch Blackhawk to rescue woman near Detroit

At the request of the Marion County Sheriff's Office, a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter is preparing to launch to assist in the rescue of a 49 year old woman in the Detroit area. According to county officials she fell approximately 70 feet and is currently on the side of a cliff at the 3,600 foot elevation. A medic is on site with her, however, due to the location, it will require a hoist operation to bring her down to obtain the necessary medical assistance.

As weather this morning is a factor, the Blackhawk and crew are waiting for the fog to clear so they can launch. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
