Mission Complete for two UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters from Oregon ARMY National Guard
Two Blackhawk helicopters responded to a request for assistance from Deschutes County officials. Two hikers were lifted off the North Sisters at approximately the 8,000 ft level. The first victim is reported to be a 40 year old female who suffered critical injuries and was transported to Sisters, Ore., where a lifeflight helicopter then transported her to the Trauma Center in Bend, Ore. The second victim is reported to a male approximately the same age who was lifted off the mountain using a litter operation, transported to Sisters and then on to Bend, Ore. for treatment for his injuries.
Both Blackhawks and crews then flew to Redmond, Ore. to refuel prior to returning to their home base in Salem, at the Army Aviation Support Facility.
