Oregon Soldiers injured
Ten soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry, Oregon Army National Guard, currently serving in Kirkuk, Iraq were injured on June 3, 2005 at approximately 4:20 a.m. while on a route clearance mission enroute to Forward Operating Base Warrior. An IED exploded on the first vehicle of a three vehicle convoy. As the vehicles lined up to assist the first vehicle, a second IED exploded damaging the third vehicle. All of the injured are assigned to A Company, 3rd Battalion 116th Cavalry assigned to the unit in Ontario, Ore.
Two soldiers , Sgt. Johan Bagge of Springfield, Ore. And 2nd Lt. Timothy Bomke of Portland, Ore., have been transferred to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center for treatment and stabilization of their injuries. Bagge sustained fractures to both legs. Bomke has suffered shrapnel injuries to both legs.
The remaining eight soldiers were treated and returned to duty.
