Groundbreaking set for Afghan-Iraqi Freedom War Memorial
The official groundbreaking for the Afghan-Iraqi Freedom War Memorial will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. at the Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs Building, 700 Summer Street NE in Salem, Ore.

The memorial effort was headed up by the parents of a soldier who lost his life in Iraq in November 2003, Clay and M.J. Kesterson. Since the inception of the concept of honoring these members of the military who lost their lives in Support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. "We want to honor the military members from Oregon who served so proudly and made the ultimate sacrifice, said Clay and M.J. We do not want to wait 50 years to see this memorial come together."
The citizens of Oregon, members of all military groups and the media are invited to attend this groundbreaking.
