Oregon Army National Guard to assist search for four year old
The Oregon Army National Guard will launch an OH-58 Kiowa helicopter at approximately 7:45 a.m. today from the Army Aviation Support Facility in Salem to aid in the search for a missing four year old in Clackamas County.
The Clackamas County Sheriff's office requested the assistance of the ORNG. The ORNG will provide more information about the role of the Kiowa in the search as it becomes available.
The Oregon Army National Guard also uses the Kiowa to assist law enforcement agencies in counter-drug operations. The unique array of observation equipment makes the Kiowa a very versatile airframe.
As a combat airframe, the Kiowa conducts armed reconnaissance, security, target acquisition and designation, command and control, light attack and defensive air combat missions in support of combat and contingency operations.
