Oregon National Guard breaks ground for facility expansion at the Salem Aviation Flight Facility
Salem, Ore. – A groundbreaking ceremony for the Oregon National Guard's Army Aviation Facility in Salem will be held Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. near Hangar #2. The Army Aviation Facility is located at 1921 Turner Rd. SE, on the East end of McNary Field just off Airport Rd.
Timing of the event has been changed out of respect for the family of Lance Corporal Derek Jones.
Senior members of the Oregon National Guard including the Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Raymond F. Rees, will attend. Several state and local civic leaders have been invited to attend the ceremony.
The media is encouraged to attend. There will be opportunity for interviews with officials. Personnel from the Oregon Army National Guard's aviation units and the 102nd Civil Support Team will also be on hand to answer any questions. Static displays of equipment used by both units will be presented.
