Arrival of Oregon National Guard 1042nd Medical Company personnel from Afghanistan delayed to Sunday
The arrival of the men and women of the 1042nd Medical Company (Air Ambulance), Oregon Army National Guard, as well as their equipment is tentatively scheduled to arrive at the Portland Air National Guard Base near the AMC Hangar on Sunday, February 26, 2006.
This unit has been deployed many times due to the critical need of medevac capability and have just completed a six month rotation into Afghanistan. Their primary mission was the evacuation, stabilization and transport of military and civilians who have been injured.
This delay is due to a transport issue with the UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters and the cargo plane scheduled to bring equipment belonging to the unit back to Oregon.
The unit is currently scheduled to arrive sometime around 10:30 a.m. We will keep you posted of updated information as it comes forward or changes.
Family, friends and interested media are encouraged to be on hand to welcome them back from a successful deployment to Afghanistan. Interested media should contact the Public Affairs Office for escort onto the facility and to arrange interviews with family and friends.
