UPDATE: 1042nd Medical Company Returns from Afghanistan at 6:30 p.m.

The 1042nd Medical Company (Air Ambulance) flights have been delayed. The Oregon Army National Guard unit will return to Portland today at 6:30 p.m. Media interested in attending the return should meet in the Air Mobility Command (AMC) hangar parking lot located at 4635 NE Cornfoot Road in Portland no later than 5 p.m.

Media will be briefed on the schedule, safe locations, and off-limit areas at this time.

This unit has been deployed many times due to the critical need of medical evacuation capabilities, and it has completed a six month rotation into Afghanistan. Their primary mission was the evacuation, stabilization and transport of military and civilians who have been injured.

Family, friends and interested media are encouraged to be on hand to welcome them back from a successful deployment to Afghanistan. Interested media should contact the Public Affairs Office at 503-932-5805 to coordinate access.
