Oregon National Guard Troops give back to their community
 
Soldiers in Troops F, G, and A 1st Squadron, 82nd Cavalry RSTA of the Oregon Army National Guard are giving back to their local communities in the Lebanon area, as a show of thanks for the support they received throughout their deployments over the past two years.
 
The community support and improvement projects include:
 
On July 9, troops painted buildings on Fifth Ave. and W. Rose St. The Soldiers mingled with people from the local community, played basketball with them, and showed them some of their Soldier skills training.
 
On July 10, troops laid bark dust and gravel at Smith Park on South Main and Market Street. Recruiters also set up a display.
 
On July 13, Soldiers will provide support and mingle with the community during the River Rhythms event on the waterfront in Albany.
 
July 14-15 the troops will support the Willamette Speedway on Airport Road in Lebanon by providing security and a recruiting display.
 
On July 16, Soldiers will be laying gravel and cutting brush and grass next to the river at Ralston Park on the corner of Maple and Grove Street/Gills Landing on Booth Ln. off of Grant.
 
There will also be an Open House on July 18 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lebanon armory, 250 W. Maple Street. There will be Soldiers on hand to visit with members of the community. Equipment will be on display and classes will be held to teach basic Soldier skills. There will also be a rock wall and refreshments served.
