Oregon National Guard to render Honors to Governor Kulongoski following Inauguration Ceremony
Salem, Ore.  Monday, January 8, 2007 following the Inauguration of Governor Theodore Kulongoski for his second term as Governor and Commander in Chief of the Oregon National Guard, a ceremony will be held on the steps of the Oregon State Capitol Building.  Scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Following military customs dating back to the time of the ancient Romans, The Oregon Army and Air National Guard Joint Color Guard will present the colors.
Following this the Commander of Troops, Lt. Col. Mark Parrish of the 2nd Battalion, 218th Field Artillery will bring the detail to attention and receive direction from the Adjutant General to advance the colors. 
The National Anthem will be performed by the 234th Army Band of the Oregon Army National Guard followed by comments by Major General Raymond F. Rees, The Adjutant General of the Oregon National Guard.
1 19 gun howitzer salute will be performed by the Governor's Honor Battery, B Company, 218th Field Artillery from McMinnville, Ore. 
At the end of the volley, two F-15's from the 142nd Fighter Wing based in Portland, Ore., will be joined by two F-15's from Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Ore. performing a flyover of the States Capitol Building to honor the Governor.
This will mark the conclusion of the military ceremony. 
Military Honors will not utilize any additional taxpayer dollars and is being performed using Operation funds and is part of normal military training.
Request all media sources in the Salem area make this information available to all citizens in the area to help them understand the nature of the gun salute and F-15 flyover.
