|Approximately 139 soldiers from the 41st Brigade Combat Team, ORANG due to return to Oregon today
At approximately 1 p.m. today, 75 soldiers from the 41st Brigade Combat Team, Oregon Army National Guard will arrive at the Portland Air National Guard Base. These men and women are returning from a highly successful deployment in Afghanistan where they not only trained the Afghan National Army but also trained the Afghan Police. This in conjunction with the many humanitarian missions and working in a combined Joint Force atmosphere proved to be highly effective and rewarding for these soldiers.
A second flight is scheduled to arrive this evening between 7 and 10 p.m. and will consist of 64 soldiers.
Families will await the arrival of their soldiers at the Jackson Army National Guard facility at 6255 NE Cornfoot Road in Portland, Ore. Family friends and news media are encouraged to attend.
On Thursday morning at 10 a.m., Governor Kulongoski will host a welcome home ceremony for these soldiers at the Anderson Readiness Center, 3225 State Street SE, Salem, Oregon.
The soldiers are scheduled for release to return to their families and communities tomorrow afternoon after completion of their final paperwork.
Included in the first flight will be soldiers from the following cities: Albany, Aloha, Beaverton, Bend, Canby, Central Point, Chiloquin, Clackamas, Camas Valley, Corvallis, Gladstone, Grants Pass, Eagle Point, Gresham, Keizer, Klamath Falls, McMinnville, Hillsboro, Lebanon, Medford, Myrtle Creek, Oregon City, Oakgrove, Portland, Redmond, Roseburg, Salem, St. Helens, South Beach, Sherwood, The Dalles, Tigard, Woodburn, Yamhill, Las Vegas, NV and Woodland, Wash.
The second flight due in this evening will have soldiers from Albany, Aloha, Ashland, Baker City, Beaverton, Bonanza, Eagle Point, Estacada, Eugene, Grants Pass, Gresham, Harrisburg, Hermiston, Hillsboro, Keizer, Klamath Falls, McMinnville, Medford, Milwaukie, Molalla, Oregon City, Portland, Renton, Wash., Rogue River, Roseburg, Salem, Springfield, St. Helens, Sutherlin, Tigard, Tualatin, Vancouver, Wash., West Linn, White City, Wilsonville and Winston.
